ShapeShift DAO announces the launch of NFT auction to support female creators

Non-custodial crypto management platform ShapeShift DAO has announced the launch of a new NFT auction, “Block 495559—Crypto Kitties and the Great Hairball in the Tubes,” to support female artists in the NFT and Blockchain industries. This is not a hidden fact that the female population is majorly underrepresented in the rapidly growing digital economy.

The auction for the collaborative one-of-a-kind NFT collection created by ShapeShift DAO director GrayMachine and female artist LunaHawk, has been decided to be held on OpenSea between April 4 and April 11. With the inclusion of custom, animal-themed digital art for conveying the history of the crypto market through various animals, the series has been minted on the Ethereum mainnet.

Notably, ShapeShift, which was earlier limited only to exchange services, acquired Israel-based digital wallet provider Portis in 2020, as TheCoinRise reported. In July 2021, ShapeShift began decentralizing its entire organization in an unprecedented effort that featured the world’s largest airdrop and complete open-sourcing of its platform code. Beginning June 2, 2021, the ShapeShift DAO Governance Treasury, as well as the company’s employees and stockholders, were given a three-year vesting schedule.

LunaHawk’s 10-piece NFT series was approved by the ShapeShift DAO in October 2021. The artwork was first shown in February at the ETHDenver conference.

The NFT auction would be the first in a series that will begin in the “coming weeks and months,” according to GrayMachine.

ShapeShift will donate 10% of sales to Women of Crypto Art Fund

ShapeShift DAO intends to donate 10% of the earnings from the NFT to the Women of Crypto Art Fund, a community organization that encourages women in the digital world of art. Giveth, a crypto-focused charitable financing platform, will be used for the donations.

The company said the auction will also fund the needs of the DAO as it grows, in addition to encouraging women in blockchain. With the female participation increasing in countries like Norway and Australia, several institutions and individuals have come forward to promote the suppressed section of population. Recently, The Sandbox partnered with the NFT community World of Women for the launch of trending WoW foundation.
