Ukraine now accepts DOGE donations after DOT and SOL

Ukraine, which has received heavy support from the crypto community as a result of the special military operation by Russia, has finally reacted to the request of accepting altcoins other than BTC, ETH, and USDT. The government officially confirmed that it would accept Dogecoin donations along with tagging the billionaire and DOGE promoter Elon Musk in a tweet.

The prime minister and minister of digital transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, informed on Twitter about DOGE acceptance and shared an official DOGE wallet address aiming to solicit donations in the dog-themed crypto.

Ukraine has boosted its crypto donation efforts and recently added SOL and DOT donation addresses. At the time of publication, the country had received more than $45 million, which does not include contributions after Ukraine announced an airdrop to donors. 

DOGE surpasses Ruble

The minister noted that the price of meme coin had surpassed the price of one Russian Ruble. He tagged Musk, who is a huge supporter of DOGE and is also called “The Dogefather,” and Billy Markus, the creator of the token and is also called “Shibetoshi Nakamoto.”

Markus responded to Federrov by stating that he had personally sent some DOGE as a donation to the country.

“Dogecoin folks aren’t usually rich, and dogecoin itself is generally used for small transactions, but we are a caring and passionate bunch,” Markus stated.

Russia has received huge criticism for its actions. Several countries, including the United States, have imposed devastating sanctions on multiple Russian banks. Ukraine also requested several crypto exchanges for a crypto crackdown on Russia, but the crypto community and crypto exchanges did not seem to be in favor of it as the actions would contradict the concept of decentralization and freedom.
