Ukraine’s Vice Minister Sends Appreciation Message to the Crypto Community on Easter

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Vice prime minister and minister of digital transformation has sent an appreciation message to the global cryptocurrency community for their continued support of Ukraine as it continues to fight off the Russian invasion on its shores.

Taking to Twitter to share the appreciation message, Fedorov hailed ‘Crypto for good’ as proceeds received have continued to help the Aid for Ukraine Not-for-Profit organization in its purchase of war gears for the army.

“Crypto for good. @_AidForUkraine continues its work for the frontline heroes: 200 sets of ballistic plates of 4 class for bulletproof vests have been sent. The better equipped soldiers — the sooner day of Ukrainian victory,” the tweet reads.

Right after the war in Ukraine broke out in February, the Ukrainian government led by Fedorov appealed to the hoard of crypto users to donate crypto to support the army on the battlefront. In response, donations were sent in the form of Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Polkadot (DOT), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Tron (TRX) to mention a few.

In a bid to showcase the uniquely boundless nature of digital currencies, donations to the Ukrainian war efforts also took the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) being amongst the most prominent digital arts donated.

Ukraine’s Crypto Response Bolstered by Legalization

The action of Ukraine’s government to request donations in the form of crypto and the favorable reaction by the community is a function of the trust the broader ecosystem placed on the Ukrainian government to support the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies across the board.

Having laid the groundwork for the legalization of crypto by the parliament votes before the war began, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the crypto bill into law in March, giving a legal basis for the use of the nascent asset class in the country.

While crypto has no affiliations with any government or political entities, the support given to the Ukrainian people is evident that crypto can truly be used as a force for good, and if it could come to Ukraine’s aid, then it can turn up for any other country in the near future.
