American movie theater chain, which is known for its positive stance towards crypto, AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc, has updated its mobile app services to include Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), and other crypto tokens for accepting them as payments across the United States.
Exactly as promised, the AMC mobile app for AMC’s U.S. theatres now accepts online payments using Doge Coin, Shiba Inu, and other crypto currencies — thanks to Bitpay. Also Apple Pay, Google Pay and Paypal. To do so, you first will need to update to the latest version of our app. pic.twitter.com/MMy7SIxYbl

As reported by TheCoinRise, AMC Theaters started accepting a suite of crypto tokens as payment methods in November last year, allowing customers to buy movie tickets and snacks using Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin.
Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Leawood, Kansas, the company is the largest movie theater chain in the world, with the largest share of the U.S. theater market ahead of Regal and Cinemark Theaters. The company has been showing greater interest in the crypto industry lately and started accepting crypto payments for buying gift cards in October last year.
The CEO of the company, Adam Aron, promised the company’s users to include meme tokens like DOGE and SHIB by March this year.
I have been repeatedly asked when AMC expects to routinely accept Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for any and all payments made via the AMC web site and mobile app. I am being told that we are still well on track for the promised Q1 implementation, with exact timing most likely in March. pic.twitter.com/QSBvLAMHKx

Despite being slightly delayed, he has kept his promise with the new announcement. The CEO of the company revealed that iOS and Android users could use their crypto holdings to buy tickets via integration with the Bitcoin payment service provider BitPay.
Users in the United States are suggested to download the latest version of the AMC Theaters mobile application to use the newly added feature. The company has not disclosed the list of newly supported crypto tokens yet.
Notably, BitPay has been recently in the headlines for its good work and major partnerships with the big players in the industry. As we reported, Singapore-based cross-border payments firm Nium has also partnered with BitPay to release an API-based solution to allow businesses to start accepting crypto payments from their customers — starting from Bitcoin and Ether.
