Starbucks Odyssey, an NFT-based membership program announced the release of its first paid collectible titled “The Siren Collection” on Thursday. The 2,000-item “Siren Collection” includes a replica of the business’s famous Siren, with the stamps costing $100 each.

Each original work of art is influenced by the company’s recognizable symbol, a “mega mermaid,” as the company previously put it. According to the announcement, only members of Starbucks Odyssey are permitted to buy the NFTs. Non-members, on the other hand, were advised to join a waitlist.

As per the details, the stamp contains 1,500 bonus points which can be used by members to improve their experience. Notably, all bonus points expire on December 31st and only have a promotional value only on the Starbucks Odyssey Program.

Meanwhile, the launch was not without its difficulties. Users of the Starbucks Odyssey Discord group complained that the collectibles were difficult to access and that there were frequent errors due to heavy usage. Despite the problems, a Coindesk report revealed that the stamps were sold out within 20 minutes of their release.

Starbucks Launches into Web3

American multinational coffee house chain, Starbucks launched into the Web3 space in December when it inked a partnership with Polygon. The new program comprises NFTs with a coffee theme that connects to practical experiences. Markedly, the collaboration is aimed at using Web3 technology to reward and engage customers in new ways.

Additionally, Starbucks said it intends to provide ownable digital stamps, a new online community, and grant access to new advantages and immersive coffee experiences both physically and virtually.

The move comes at a time when many businesses are experimenting with NFTs and raising awareness of Web3 among the public. For instance, the social media platform, Meta has also begun a focused push into NFTs on Facebook and Instagram.

Similarly, WeTransfer, a cloud-based file-sharing service, has announced a partnership with Minima Global to provide NFT to its network. Users will have the choice to make NFTs directly from their phone or any other device thanks to this collaboration.
