Ubisoft seeks dynamic NFT ambition with aleph.im after fan backlash

After becoming a component of Ubisoft’s Entrepreneurs Lab, the blockchain-based computing and storage firm aleph.im entered the network as a main channel node operator earlier this year. For incorporating non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into Ubisoft’s AAA titles, aleph.im said on Tuesday that it is planning to offer a decentralized storage option for Ubisoft Quartz. The company recently launched the beta version of its new NFT platform Quartz.

“Digits on Quartz” are dynamic NFTs that will be acquired by players in Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Breakpoint game. Digits can be used in-game by the users and can also be sold on the Rarible and Objkt marketplaces for someone else to buy. The item’s metadata and provenance will be made public.

Players may see the identities and accomplishments of previous item holders, as well as item specifications and videos, thanks to aleph.im’s technology. The system’s benefits include securely storing NFT metadata on a completely decentralized storage network with more than 70 nodes, enabling all NFT ownership to be traced on the Tezos blockchain.

Ubisoft and aleph.im aims dynamic NFTs

Ubisoft and aleph.im collaboration aims to challenge traditional static NFTs and enable the production of dynamic NFTs incorporating metadata that transforms as they move from player to player.

According to Ubisoft’s blockchain technical director Didier Genevois, gamers must actually own their Digit in order to deliver the technology as promised. “aleph.im’s contribution in developing this experiment was critical,” he stated, “by allowing us to decentralize the storage of the Digits’ video asset and metadata.”

When Ubisoft first announced its venture into NFTs, it faced a lot of backlash with 96% of dislikes, as TheCoinRise previously covered. The Ghost Reckon community was not pleased with the “cash grab,” as they called it. To alleviate its players’ concerns, Ubisoft has shifted to dynamic NFTs with the support of aleph.im.
