According to a recent study by Study.com, 64% of US parents believe that crypto education should be covered in their children’s curricula. Only 25% of parents agreed that NFTs should be incorporated into education programs, indicating that they do not have the parents’ full support.
Last year, New York Mayor Eric Adams said that crypto is “a new way for paying for services and goods throughout the entire globe” and recommended that students learn about them and the technology that powers them, as TheCoinRise reported.
Almost 65% of the 800 American parents surveyed agreed that schools should teach about cryptocurrencies. 40% of respondents say blockchain technology should be covered in school, and 35% think the Metaverse should be covered as well. NFTs came in last because just 25% of parents think their kids should be aware of them.
Looking more closely, 24% of parents believe that high school should be the beginning point for crypto education, while 19% believe middle school is more suitable. According to 28% of respondents, learning about digital assets is more important than learning about design, and 26% said architecture and art history should be substituted.
It’s interesting to note that 68% of the parents acknowledged investing in cryptocurrencies. With the earnings from their investments, they have typically given their kids’ future education a boost of about $766.
Additionally, Study.com polled some college grads; 36% thought blockchain technology should be incorporated into the curriculum, while 67% said cryptocurrencies should be taught in schools.
“Like the parents we surveyed, most college grads had crypto investments and believed cryptocurrency should be part of a student’s education. Over one-third of graduates also thought schools should incorporate the Metaverse and blockchain into the curriculum. They were somewhat more on the fence about NFTs, though,” the survey stated.
Notably, the overwhelming majority of graduates (86%) believe that a formal study of cutting-edge technologies and new currencies is more significant than a college degree.
Crypto adoption and awareness are increasing. A survey by eToro recently revealed that 33% of United States residents would prefer to date someone who is crypto-friendly, as TheCoinRise reported.
